VoxxMail > Google contradicts Apple, claims Google Voice was rejected ...

[Electronista | The Macintosh News Network] At first, we all blamed AT&T, but it looks more like Apple does not trust Google to live by it's own motto of "Do no Evil". It is one thing to give your own personal information to a third-party company through their software, but giving out the personal contact information of whoever you call is something entirely different, as that called person is not electing to compromise their privacy, nor being given the chance to opt out.

[Brainstorm Tech: Technology blogs, news and analysis from Fortune Magazine » Apple 2.0] Apple's curious PR problem - Apple 2.0 - Fortune Brainstorm Tech: Frankly, as an Apple fan who's also a marketer (professional copywriter), I hugely appreciate the work they've put into building and protecting both their brand and the quality standard that makes that success possible. And as a shareholder, I'm glad they seem to be as attentive and meticulous about the details of their business as they are about the all-around goodness of just about every product they release.

[Engadget Mobile] Apple iPhone on AT&T for five years?: Anything Verizon puts out would probably have the potential to at least make a run at the iPhone, but by the time Verizon gets it's hand on it and removes the Google Maps so that it can run VZW Navigator, takes away Bluetooth OBEX, and throws Get It Now! on the phone, it's going to make it just as much of a joke as every other piece of outdated crippled hardware that Verizon offers.

[TheAppleBlog] New Features in iPhone Software 2.2: i am thinking of changing back to my old brick of a phone instead of my lovly shine iphone just for MMS it is stupid, i would also like to beable to foward txt msg to ppl it just looks like you have to be a boring office worker with no friends to think this phone is good, i cant even use hotmail in the email app “crap” 98% of the british army uses hotmail and i need to change if i want to use the iphone app’s !!!!

[(parent . thesis)] Six months: iPhone vs. Blackberry Pearl | parent . thesis - CNET News: The iPhone's keyboard - while it does require a bit of time to master - is the fastest keyboard I've ever used for typing. That plus the incredible web browser, the fact I can watch TV shows, movies and listen to music - that I have all my email and contacts and can take phone calls in one little package makes the iPhone the real winner as far as I'm concerned.

[RoughlyDrafted Magazine] The Palm Pre/iPhone Multitasking Myth ”” RoughlyDrafted Magazine: After successfully delivering the premise of an intuitive graphical computing environment in a commercial product, Steve Jobs wanted Apple to aggressively move the Mac environment on top of a more sophisticated foundation. A new “Super Mac” operating system was explored, as was a partnership with both AT&T (then the owner of commercial Unix) and a joint engineering project with Apollo, a workstation vendor that produced a Unix-like, sophisticated operating system called Domain/OS.

[Lifehacker Australia] Break Google's Monopoly On Your Data: Switch To Yahoo Search ...: Merely moving your search to another provider still leaves the other 60% of your online life with big G.Recently, I have been asking my friends and associates how much of their online life is either with the big G or Yahoo. The answer ranged from 60-80%.Don't forget that big G and Yahoo are US-based companies and they both do not have perfect records of bending over to big brother when the pressure is applied.I have tried to move my mail and everything else I can to my own hosting providers.

[Call Me Fishmeal.] Call Me Fishmeal.: I am really angry at Palm.: Certainly, it was possible, with enough time and know-how and installations, to install the Palm Desktop software which I'd never use, and set up a fake Bluetooth to serial line, and install the iSync -> Palm Desktop conduits, and enable them in Palm HotSync Preferences, and disable the Palm Desktop conduits, and get the damn phone to sync, once I'd discovered that the group I was syncing to my phone in Address Book had to contain at least one person, not just other groups, otherwise NONE of the people would sync (unlike with my Motorola and Sony-Ericsson phones). And certainly a lot of this was Apple's fault, but, honestly, Palm should have just said, "Damn, every Mac ships with a built-in, shared calendar program and an address book -- let's chuck this crappy custom stuff we've been making and get our software to work well with what Apple's doing!"

[ThomasPurves.com] Canada Worse than 3rd World Countries when it comes to Mobile Data ...: Canada is a country where the citizenry gravitates towards protectionism and government regulation, people need to wake up and realize that the Canadian government regulators are so asleep at the wheel, the interest of Canadian consumers is the last thing on their minds. I live in Canada, but I have an active Cingular / AT&T account as Rogers roaming charges are crazy, calling from Kingston to Toronto is considered long distance, however with Cingular I can call San Diego from Kingston and that is included in my calling package.

[Ariel Publicity - Blog - Cyber PR] Wired Article - DRM Free Music Comes To iTunes - Ariel Publicity ...: Throughout, I have also tried my hand at booking (practially every SKA band that starts with S in the third wave) and as a manager so, living with my man was at first in my eyes kinda like sleeping with the devil”¦ weve had some really doozies over some stupid music topics and he will NEVER forgive me for likeing Dave Matthews (tough shit) abd I will kick and scream still and hold steady on my opinion that all artists that create music deserve a fair shot at expressing themselves and getting attention from the press but thats a different post for a different day”¦. So Ben has been saying to anyone that will listen for the last 8 months that the music industry is in shambles mainly because it has ignored its core, tastemakers (like him) by providing mediocre quality downloads and his gripe has always been - show me another industry where what you can get for free is better quality than what they actually sell!
