Informata: Once you have an RSS reader up and running, just look for little orange tags on Web sites you want to subscribe to that say "RSS" or, sometimes, "XML," and follow the directions that your reader software gives you. Your RSS reader can also help you browse or find feeds on topics you like. (via Cosmos)

eLearning Technology: In these posts they discuss the fact that with as many social networking sites (and I would add other kinds of Web 2.0 sites), there is inherent friction both with sign-up and with on-going use of multiple sites. Dennis McDonald - Managing Technology: The gist is that I agree that there's friction both at sign-up and in on-going use. And it's not just closed/open, it's how do I determine what gets shared with what groups as a content creator. (via Cosmos)

Watching, Testing, Digesting: Skype Software & Hardware Gadgets.: However, with that said, I think you have got a good point that companies may want to have reliable tools with SLAs in place and all but what I think is also going to be a major key driver is the fact that most of those companies actually have been working for different customers who may actually be using different tools than those used internally and therefore knowledge workers would need to find a way to keep that collaboration going so that they are still able to provide a service. And that is where Skype comes in, more than anything else because it has certainly proved in the consumer market that it can be used reliably and by everyone, whether you are tech savvy or not. Web Strategy by Jeremiah: Netscape has a similar type feature, this impacts their credibility and the rest of the social media industry. Thats gaming the system and disrupts how social media is supposed to work, those nasty humans. Go get ”em Jason! Related note: Luis thought I was too harsh, as I have recently been critical of humans (people), esp around wikis. No comments (via Cosmos)

[Elsua.net] E L S U A ~ A KM Blog » Blog Archive » Skype - Free Internet ...: Amongst other things, because it is a very light Instant Messaging client that connects you with some of the most popular IM protocols around (AIM, ICQ, Yahoo!, MSN) -I hope one of these days they would add as well both Skype or Google Talk, so you would be able to keep in touch with your colleagues regardless what IM tool they are using. At the same time you would be able to collaborate using all of the rich text features that you can find in pretty much all of the different IM tools out there, but there is a single feature that will make it unique against all of the other different IM tools.
